The First Weekly Mad Men Post

So, Mad Men was pretty awesome as usual. I found it interesting that for the second straight episode, the men have been asses. Pete & Duck were they're usual icky selves and caused a mess of trouble. Roger is leaving Mona for Don's secretary. (seriously, Roger? If you're going to leave Mona for anyone, it should at least be Joan). Don was all "it's a relief not living at home." I'm not sure how many times Don thinks he can reinvent himself. We get it. It's your life. But you can't just go around persuading people doing whatever you want. Eventually, someone is going to catch on.

In contrast to these slummy men.... Peggy got promoted!!! Even though the circumstances were less than desirable, she deserves it. And wasn't it wonderful when Peggy went into Pete's office and yelled at him?! I love that Betty continues to hold up to the statement she made last episode. That she would never "do this" to Don. Instead of having an affair, she sets up her friend with the horse guy.

I liked how they dealt with Marilyn Monroe's suicide. They certainly showed how beloved she was in the eyes of the public. Also, did anyone else notice that Sal was sitting next to Ken Cosgrove in their meeting?

O.k I am going to agree with Christine about Roger. Why the hell are you leaving Mona after 25 years for that slutty, bitchy secretary; run away with Joan. I am afraid Betty is going to pull a Marilyn because of the fact that she is so detached from everything and everyone and then she said sometimes I just feel I will float away. That's a scary statement to make. Betty did what she sees men do all the time and sets her friend up with the horse guy and good for her. Show those men that women can be just like them in that respect. Loved that Joan was very upset about Monroe's death because that is Joan. She looks like she has everything on the outside but really, she is all alone and has no one.
Poor Freddy! I loved him and I love that Peggy was so secretive about it so that he wouldn't get fired but then Pete had to go tell Duck so that he can kiss Duck's ass some more. Also, Peggy kicked ass this week and I kinda wish she would have punched Pete instead, the ass deserves it.
We also have finally discovered why Copper has pictures of Roger as a kid. Roger's father was the original Sterling in the Sterling/Copper partnership and Roger took over for his father.
I now officially hate Don for saying that he is relieved that he is not with Betty anymore and that he wants to move on. What an ass!! I mean that woman has been working for years to make his life absolutely perfect and gave him all her love and devotion and he throws it back in her face. She is the perfect woman and every man wants her, but he can't even try to love her or respect her.
So another great comeback for the women. I think the standing score right now is women 2 and men 1.

I agree with all the statements above. See, I think differently with Betty and Joan. I personally believe Betty will become a pill popper (my original guess from the start of second season) and that Joan will pull a Marilyn or something drastic to that extent. I absolutely abhor that slut of a secretary and I just want someone to kick her ass...seriously. Yea Peggy! I like the fact she told Don she didn't feel like she should have the promotion, and it serves kind of as a reminder to Don that Peggy is a lot like him, but different and bad ass. So yea. AH. Sal...so repressed...
